How to Build a Playhouse That Can Come Apart
If you'd like to build a playhouse for your child but need one that can easily be taken down, either because of moving or for inclement weather, consider making a cardboard box playhouse. Cardboard refrigerator boxes or other large appliance boxes can easily be converted into a playhouse, then decorated to your child's specifications. Then, when the playhouse needs to be moved, the whole thing can be folded flat and transported easily.

1
Find a large appliance box to use for the project, like a refrigerator box or television box. Check with local electronics stores to see if they have any boxes to give you for free.
-
2
Cut the top flaps off of the box so that they don't get in the way.
-
-
3
Flip the box over so the open side is the floor and the bottom flaps make up the roof.
-
4
Tape the roof flaps together so they stay down when kids are playing. This tape can be peeled off when it's time to take down the playhouse.
-
5
Cut a rectangle from the bottom center of one side of the box to make a door for the playhouse. Cut squares from the other sides to make windows.
-
6
Let kids decorate the outside of the playhouse with markers, drawing shutters, bushes and shingles for added flair.
