How to Place Analytics in Blogger

Google Analytics is a free website statistic service provided with your Google account. Blogger is also a free blogging platform that is provided with your Google account. You can install Google Analytics on your Blogger blog to view information about your blog such as how many visits your blog gets, what other sites on the Internet direct visitors to your blog and what search engine queries visitors use to find your blog. To do this, you must place the Google Analytics tracking code in your Blogger template.

Instructions

      Sign into your Google Analytics account.

      Click "Edit" next to the Analytics profile for your Blogger page.

      Click the "Check Status" link in the top right corner. This will display your tracking status and the tracking code for your site.

      Highlight the code with your mouse, right-click and select "Copy" from the menu.

      Log into your Blogger account.

      Click "Design" next to the blog you want to edit. This will take you to the template design page.

      Click "Edit HTML" to view the HTML code for your template.

      Right-click above the "</body>" tag within the HTML code and select "Paste" from the menu. This will place a copy of your Analytics code into your Blogger template.

      Click "Save Template" to complete the edit. You can now return to your Google Analytics account to view information about visitors who view your Blogger site.

Tips & Warnings

  • Allow Google Analytics time to detect your tracking code. It may take up to 24 hours before you see your site statistics.
