How to Chat on Qik

Using a webcam allows your contacts to see you while you chat.

Video conferencing has been popular for years, but is becoming increasingly popular for personal use. Regardless of which provider you are using, it is easy to have a video chat with any of your friends. If you have a smartphone, it is even easier because you can chat on the go. Many phones now have front-facing cameras, which make it easy to hold a video chat for personal or professional reasons. Video chat is the wave of the future.

Instructions

1. Install the Qik application on your smartphone or computer.

2. Setup your personal preferences (i.e. the "Privacy" setting allows you to block anonymous callers).

3. Click on "Video Chat." Here you can choose to see either contacts that also have video chat or all contacts. It makes sense to view only your contacts with video chat, but you can chat with users who do not have video. You can also go to the "Dialpad" section and type in a friend's Qik username.

4. Click on a username or contact and Qik will attempt to call that person. Once the other person accepts your request, video chat will commence.
