How to Add MP3s to an iPod
Apple's iPod is a portable media player available in variants such as the high-capacity "classic," the ultra-small "nano" and the touch screen "iPod Touch." No matter which of these you choose, this compact, lightweight device allows you to carry large numbers of songs with you -- in some instances, your entire music library -- wherever you go. Before you enjoy this freedom and flexibility, transfer MP3 files from your computer onto your iPod using Apple's free iTunes software suite.

1
Open the MP3 files you wish to add to your iPod in iTunes. Launch iTunes, open the "File" menu and click "Add File to Library." Browse your computer to the files you wish to transfer to your iPod. When you reach the folder, hold down the "Ctrl" key, click the names of all the files you wish to add, then click "Open."
-
2
Attach the broad end of your iPod's USB cable into its base and the narrower end into one of your computer's USB serial ports. Open iTunes if you don't still have the program open from when you added the MP3 files to your library.

3
Sync your iPod with iTunes. If this process doesn't start automatically, double-click your iPod within iTunes' left pane, then click the "Sync" button in the bottom, right corner of the program's "Summary" tab.
-
4
Disconnect your iPod once iTunes tells you the sync is complete. Open the device's "Recently Added" playlist to confirm that all your MP3 files have been added to your device library.
