Heating Instructions for Spenco Arch Supports
Many manufacturers sell their arch supports as-is, and you cannot reshape them to fit your feet. One solution for this is to have a foot specialist fit you for custom arch supports. Unfortunately, these tend to cost more than those sold in a drugstore. Instead, try a brand that allows reshaping. One option is Spenco arch supports, which require you to heat them before bending them to fit your feet. Bend the arch upward, if you have high arches -- or downward, if you have low ones.
Instructions

-
1
Add enough water to a pot to fill it about half full.
-
2
Place the pot on the stove and set the heat to high. Wait for the water to boil.
-
-
3
Place the arch supports in the boiling water and allow them to heat for two minutes.
-
4
Turn the heat off and remove the arch supports with a pair of tongs.
-
5
Wear cloth or leather gloves, before handling the hot arch supports.
-
6
Bend the hot orthotic insoles to the shape you desire. For example, if you want a higher arch support, place your thumbs under the arch area and press up, while pressing the surrounding area down slightly.
-
7
Allow the arch supports to fully cool, before inserting them into your shoes. Wear your shoes and walk around to test the shape of the supports. If you need to reshape them, take them out and boil them for another two minutes.
