How to Stop a Noisy Rain Gutter
A noisy rain gutter can be a huge distraction in your home. The noise can often be heard from many areas in the house, making it difficult to relax, talk or concentrate on tasks like reading or studying. Generally, a noisy rain gutter is caused by damage that has created a leak in the gutter system. Things You'll Need
- Hose
- Scrub brush
- Silicone rubber caulking compound
- Roofing cement
- Putty knife

Find the leaks in your rain gutters. These leaks, even very small ones, can cause a lot of noise. Inspect gutters carefully after it rains or spray water into the system with your hose to spot the leaks.

Wait for the gutter system to completely dry out before repairing the damage.

Use a scrub brush to clean out the cracks or leaks that are causing the noise.

Add silicone rubber caulking compound to the gutters to seal cracks. Apply it to the inside and outside of the gutter system.

Fill in small holes in your gutters with roofing cement and a putty knife. A warm day is the best time to apply roofing cement.

Cover large holes with a piece of sheet metal from the inside of the rain gutter. Secure it with roofing cement. Then cover the outside with roofing cement as well.
