How to Copy a Character to a Beta Test Realm

"World of Warcraft," released in 2004, is patched on a daily basis. In order to help test patches and new content on a large scale, Blizzard Entertainment uses a public test realm. Players can either create their own character on the public test realm, or copy an existing character onto the realm. There are no limitations on the character you can copy, though you may only copy two characters each time the realm opens for testing. It is advised that you copy a high-level character over, as most patches are meant for players at the level cap.

Instructions

    • 1

      Navigate to the Battle.Net website.

    • 2

Click "Log In" at the top of the website. Enter your user name and password and click "Log In."

    • 3

Click "World of Warcraft: Public Test Realm" under "Game Accounts."

    • 4

Click "Copy Premade Character." A list of all of your characters is displayed.

    • 5

Click "Copy Character" next to the character you want to copy to the public test realm.

    • 6

Select a public test realm from the drop-down "Select a Realm" box. Only 2 realms are available: PvE has player vs player combat disabled, while PvP has player vs player combat enabled.

    • 7

Click "Continue" followed by "Copy." Your character is now copied onto the public test realm.

Tips & Warnings

  • The test realms are only available when a patch is ready to be tested, which will be announced on the "World of Warcraft" game launcher or the official website.

  • You can only copy a character when the public test realm is available. If you have changed your password in the past 3 weeks, you may be unable to access the public test realm.
