How to Use Netgear Smart Wizard

Save

Wireless Internet connection problems can be a real headache. For users of a NETGEAR Wireless Adapter, one solution to connection problems is to run the NETGEAR Smar Wizard, a troubleshooting program that can help you get back online. The program will do most of the work for you; all you need to do is enter basic information about your wireless connection.

  • Access the NETGEAR Smart Wizard by opening the Start menu, clicking "Programs" and locating the NETGEAR folder. The NETGEAR Smart Wizard is inside.

  • Open the "Networks" tab. The Networks tab will populate a list of available wireless connections.

  • Highlight the wireless network to which you would like to connect. Click the "Connect" button.

  • Open the "Settings" tab. Select which encryption type the network uses: WPA or WEP. If you're not sure, check the modem for a security sticker that lists both encryption type and the network key.

  • Enter the security key in the text box next to the encryption type you selected. The security key will listed on the modem.

  • Enter a name for the wireless network into the "Profiles" text field. Click "Save Profile" and click "Apply."

Tips & Warnings

  • The NETGEAR Smart Wizard will only help troubleshoot your wireless connection. If you have a problem with your actual Internet connection, contact your ISP.
