How to Add Heavy Cream to Dulce de Leche
Dulce de Leche is a delicious treat used for making sauces and frostings for desserts. Things You'll Need
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 cups (1 400-grams can) dulce de leche (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of sea salt

Cream butter and two cups of the sugar together until light and fluffy. This gives the frosting a light texture.

Add vanilla extract and half of the heavy cream and mix till well blended. Add half of the dulce de leche and mix well.

Add the remaining cream and the remaining dulce de leche. Blend well and add a pinch of salt. The addition of a small quantity of salt further brings out the sweet flavor.

Add the remaining two cups of sugar gradually until the frosting reaches a thick and spreadable consistency. You may not need the entire two cups. Blend the frosting on medium speed for three to four minutes.

Tips & Warnings
This frosting is enough to frost two 9-inch cakes.
Do not over-mix the frosting as it can turn grainy.
