Make your photos appear faded using GIMP.

If you have a photo that you want to give an old, faded look to, you might think that you need either access to an expensive commercial photo-editing application or a professional do the work for you. However, you can also use the freeware program GIMP to do this.

Instructions

      Load the photo you want to fade onto your computer.

      Start the GIMP application. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog box, locate and open the photo you loaded.

      Select "Filter" from the menu and choose "Decor." From the options, choose "Old Photo." In the dialog, select "Defocus" and "Sepia" and set the "Border Size" to 0. Click "OK."

      Select "File" from the menu and choose "Save."
