How to Get Cardinal Rubies

Cardinal Rubies are red epic-quality gems found in "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King." Obtained from prospecting, the gems can be cut into several patterns, such as the Bold Cardinal Ruby (a strength gem) and the Brilliant Cardinal Ruby (an intellect gem). Though there are other ways to obtain Cardinal Rubies, the best source is Titanium Ore.

Instructions

    • 1

Learn Mining from a capital city and level it to 450 by mining nodes found throughout Azeroth, the Outlands and Northrend. Travel by flying mount to Icecrown and turn on Track Minerals. Mine a Titanium Vein or a Rich Titanium Vein.

    • 2

Level Jewelcrafting to 450 by completing jewelry patterns with mined materials. Click the Prospect ability, then click a stack of Titanium Ore that contains at least five units. Right-click the resulting gems from the loot window.

    • 3

Save any Scarlet Ruby you receive and give three blue-quality rubies and an Eternal Fire to an alchemist for a transmute to Cardinal Rubies. Save green-quality gems and combine with a Frozen Orb to create Icy Prism for another chance at the gem.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also buy Cardinal Rubies from the Auction House, and there is a rare chance to loot them from the Sack of Gems obtained by killing Onyxia.
