How to Take a 6 Year Old for a Checkup
Bringing your six-year-old in for a checkup is an important step in ensuring his growth and development are on par with other children his age. Your pediatrician will check several aspects of your six-year-old's health, including height, weight, shot records and hearing and vision tests. Knowing what to expect when you head to the doctor's office can help improve the odds of a positive experience.

1
Contact your pediatrician and set an appointment at least a week in advance. This allows you to plan the trip around school and work schedules and gives you time to prepare.
-
2
Prepare to answer some of the questions your doctor will ask. You will likely be asked about your child's food and sleeping habits as well as school and study performance.

-
3
Talk to your child before visiting the doctor. Explain why he needs to go and try to put a positive spin on the experience. You should also talk to him about the types of tests the doctor may run so he is prepared for the office visit.
-
4
Give yourself extra time to get to the appointment. It is always best to be early, and a little wiggle room will save you in the event of traffic or other complications.
