How to Tag Articles
Understanding meta tags is an important aspect of getting your article to be included in the results for search-engine queries. Articles have two primary meta tags: the meta keywords tag and the meta description tag. The meta keywords tag tell a search engine which keywords are related to your article. The meta description tag describes your article when it shows up on a search-engine query.
There are two ways to create meta keywords. One is to use the keywords most frequently used in your article. The other is to find popular keywords and then write an article around them. After you have written the article, use the keywords as the meta keywords.

Using Frequently Used Words in Your Article as Meta Keywords Tags

Write your article. When you are finished, select your entire article and copy the text. Open your Internet browser and enter the URL for TagCrowd, listed in Resources. This website allows you to visually see which keywords are the most frequently used in your article.
-
2
Click in the text box labeled "Paste text to be visualized:". Paste your article in the text box. Click the "Visualize!" button. A box will appear showing the most frequently used keywords in your article. The larger the font for the keyword, the more often that keyword is used in your article.

Write down the large keywords that appear in the box. Go back to your article and find the field for inputting your keywords tags, search tags or post tags. Type in the first keyword you want to use, followed by a comma. Input the next keyword, and type a comma after it. Continue to enter keywords, and separate each keyword or series of keywords with commas.

Go back to your article. Click on the field for inputting your article description or descriptive overview. Type a short description of your article, and include some of your keywords. This description will display under your article during search-engine queries. Submit or publish your article.
