Turn your bridesmaid dress into a zombie prom queen costume.

After the wedding is over, bridesmaids are left with a fancy dress they will never use again. In many cases, these dresses are both unattractive and expensive. If you are stuck with such a dress, use it to create a unique Halloween costume. With little more than the dress, the accessories and some Halloween make up, you can create a zombie prom queen costume.

Instructions

    • 1

Make the dress look dirty. You can do this by staining it with a pot of coffee. Simply place the dress into a bucket and pour the coffee over top. Leave the dress to soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the dress and let it dry.

You could also take the dress outdoors and rub it with grass and fresh mud. This gives it a worn, distressed look and heightens the "zombie that just crawled out of the ground" look.

Cut the hem of the dress in a jagged manner. Tear the sleeves to add more distress. Use a serrated knife to cut holes in the dress in random places. The amount of distress depends on how worn you want the dress.

    • 3

Crumple the dress up into a tight ball. Tie it with a piece of twine to help it hold its shape. Leave it for 24 to 48 hours. Remove the twine. This leaves the dress wrinkled and worn looking.

    • 4

Splatter fake blood around the dress.

    • 5

Style your hair in an up-do, similar to what you would see on a prom queen, such as a French twist.

    • 6

Apply a pale or white shade of liquid foundation to your face. To help the face makeup hold up, apply a face primer prior to the rest of the makeup. Rub the foundation to give it a smooth look. If desired, apply the makeup to your neck, arms and any other exposed skin. Apply a loose, pale-colored powder to your face. This helps set the foundation. Apply gray eye shadow and black eyeliner. Avoid blush. For your lips, use black or gray eye shadow to color them. Brush the eye shadow on and blot it with a tissue.

Wear pantyhose. Tear a few holes in the legs of the tights to make them look worn. Top off the look with the shoes and jewelry you wore in the wedding.

    • 8

Apply fake blood to the corners of your mouth to finish the look.
