How to Sew a Turban
Sew a turban to stylishly cover your head. A turban is a great way to protect your hair and head from the heat of the sun or to cover up your scalp if you've suffered hair loss. Use any type of fabric you like, from cotton to silk. Once you've finished sewing the turban, you can add a sparkling pin or other brooch to the middle front of it for an extra decorative touch.

1
Measure around your head or the head of the person who will wear the turban at the widest part.
-
2
Cut two pieces of fabric. One piece will measure the distance around your head plus 1 inch by 9 inches. The other piece will measure the distance around your head plus 1 inch by 6 inches. The larger piece will be the main part of the turban and smaller piece will be the band around the edge of the turban.

3
Fold the smaller piece of fabric in half lengthwise. Place the smaller piece on top of the larger piece, lining up on the raw edges of one long side. The right sides should face each other. Pin the fabrics together.
-
4
Sew the fabric together, then unfold and press flat.
-
5
Fold the turban fabric in half widthwise. The banded portion of the turban should be on the bottom. Pin the turban along two sides, leaving the bottom part unpinned.
-
6
Stitch along the two pinned sides, 1/2 inch from the edge. When you reach the corner, turn the fabric so that you sew a rounded corner. After sewing, trim excess fabric away from the corner.
-
7
Turn the turban right side out. Fold the back part the turban into three pleats and pin. Hand sew the pleats in place.
-
8
Try the turban on. Gather the front part of the turban, just above the middle of the forehead and hold the gathers in place with a pin or brooch.
