How to Do a Reserve Auction on eBay
If you want to auction an item on eBay, but don't want to sell it below a minimum price you can set a reserve price when you list the item. An advantage of using a reserve price auction is that you can start bidding low to encourage bidders, safe in the knowledge that your item will sell only if the reserve price is met. You can add a reserve price when you create an auction listing from your eBay home page.

Open your Web browser and log into eBay. This opens your "My eBay" home page.

Click "Sell" from the top menu, and select "Sell An Item" from the drop-down menu.

Click the button beside "Advanced Sell" to select this option. Type keywords that describe your item into the dialog box. Click the "Start Selling" button.

Click the check-box beside the most appropriate selling category and sub-category for your item. Click "Continue."

Enter the product information for your item into the relevant sections of the listing form. You can also upload a picture for the item, choose from a range of design templates for the listing, and provide shipping costs and delivery information.

Find the "Choose How You'd Like To Sell Your Item" section on the form.

Click the "Online Auction" tab. Click "Change" beside the "No Reserve Price Set For This Item" option.

Type the reserve price into the input field. Click the "Save" button. This sets the minimum selling price for the item. Bidders can see that the item has a reserve price, but they won't know the actual price that you've set.

Click "Continue" when you've completed all sections of the listing form. Click the "List Your Item" button.

Tips & Warnings
Using the reserve price auction means you're not obligated to sell the item if it doesn't meet the minimum price. However, you can still opt to sell the item to the highest bidder when the auction ends.
