How to Select & Delete Colors in GIMP

The GNU Image Manipulation Program--or GIMP--is a widely used photo-editing and graphics application. Although it is free, it has many of the features you would expect in any graphics application. For example, there are a number of ways to make selections in GIMP. One of these is based on the color on an element. If you need to select a color section in a GIMP document and delete it, the process is fairly simple.

Instructions

    • 1

      Start the GIMP application.

    • 2

Select "File" from the menu, and click "Open." In the dialog that appears, locate an open and image or graphic document you want to make a selection in.

    • 3

Go to the toolbar, and click on the "Fuzzy Selection" tool. Click on the area in the document you want to select. Hit "Delete" on your keyboard and that selection of color will be deleted. Repeat this process to remove other sections.
