How to Send a Website Address through Email

How to Send a Website Address through Email thumbnail
Bring smiles to your friends throughout the world by emailing links to funny websites.

The Internet is full of cool, interesting, and useful stuff. Sometimes, though, you run across a website that's cooler, more interesting, or more useful than most of the other stuff out there -- the kind of Web page that you just have to share with others. You could call your friends and spell out the website's URL over the phone, but sending the website address through email takes less time and lets them check out your find at a time that's convenient for them. The method you use depends on your email program and formatting options.

Instructions

    • 1

Copy and paste the website's URL directly into the body of the email. The recipients will be able to copy the text on their end and paste it into their browsers' address bars.

    • 2

Link some text in your email if your email program supports the feature. Type out the website's name or a short description, then highlight the text and click the hyperlink icon, which looks like a linked chain. Paste the website's URL into the box that appears, and click "OK" to create a link that your friend can click in the body of the email.

    • 3

Enter the link code yourself if you're composing the email in HTML format. Type the following code into the body of the email, replacing the URL with the website address you'd like to link to, and replacing "Cool Website" with whatever text you feel is appropriate for the link:

      <a href="http://www.websitelink.com">Cool website</a>

Tips & Warnings

  • Creating links, either through manual code or a "Link" button, only works if you're composing the message in rich text or HTML.
