How to Change the Background in Windows Movie Maker

Save

Creating different title backgrounds in Windows Movie Maker goes a long way toward improving the visual quality of a movie. You can change backgrounds for your title or credits movie section just as easily as you can edit any of your home movies. You can create your own artistic background using digital imaging software. You can also use a photo you like or select any pre-made background to use as your movie title slide or credits slide image.

  • Open Windows Movie Maker. Click "File" and "Import Media." Select the image you created in your digital imaging software or choose any other image by clicking the "Browse" button. Click "Import" and wait for the image to appear in the upper center import window.

  • Select the "Story Board" button from the center of the window. Drag and drop the imported image from the upper import window to the beginning or end of the story board -- depending on where in the movie you want the image to appear.

  • Click on the "Timeline" button in the center of the window to change it from the story board view to the timeline view. Click on the image in the timeline and drag it to the right or left to extend or reduce the time the background image is displayed in the movie.

  • Select the "Titles and Credits" option from the tasks available in the upper window pane. Choose "Add Title to the Selected Clip" or select "Add Credits to the Selected Clip." Wait for the text box to appear and write in your title or credit information. Click "Done."

  • Play the video to make sure it plays the way you want. Make timeline adjustments if necessary.
