Getting your Certified Nurse Aide certification is a way to gain a secure, satisfying career in the medical field. Since individual states set the requirements for testing for and maintaining the CNA, it is easy to let your certification lapse or become invalid. While your employer should keep track of the status of your CNA, it is good practice to keep an eye on your own certification, and the means to do so is right at hand.
Things You'll Need
- Computer with Internet access
- Telephone directory
Ask your employer if it has verified your CNA status. An employer should contact your state nurse aide registry upon hiring you to verify your status, but some states may require them to contact the registry more often.
Search for your state's nurse aide registry. You can find it either online using a search engine or in your local telephone directory.
Contact your nurse aide registry and provide it with your information to verify your CNA status. Most states have a website that allows you to fill out a form for this information, or you can simply call and ask if it will verify the information over the phone.
