How to Print Thumbnails in Powerpoint

By default, your PowerPoint presentation prints as full page slides. This printing method often wastes an undo amount of paper, especially when dealing with dozens of slides. If you do not need to use an entire page for one slide, change your printing preferences to use handouts, which print up to nine slides per page in thumbnail format. Use the program's "Print Layout" menu to choose how many thumbnails you want to print per page.

  • Run PowerPoint and open a presentation for which you want to print thumbnails.

  • Press "Ctrl" and "P" simultaneously to open the "Print" menu.

  • Click the drop-down arrow in the "Print Layout" menu, listed as the third option in the "Settings" section. Printing options appear.

  • Click the thumbnail option that you prefer under the "Handouts" area of the "Print Layout" menu. You can include up to nine slides on one page.

  • Click "Print" to print the thumbnails.
