How to Draw a 3D Dog Bone Toy
Learning how to draw a dog's toy bone can help improve an artist's technique. You can draw one as a cartoon, or try and make it look realistic. Toy bones are similar to other kinds of bones, but the shape of a toy bone is easier to draw because you don't have to add fissures, notches and other small details.

1
Place your paper laterally in front of you, so that the long sides are at the top and bottom.
-
2
Label the corners "A" for the lower left, "B" for the upper left, "C" for the upper right and "D" for the lower right.
-
-
3
Find the center of the paper by measuring 5 3/4 inches from both sides, and 4 1/4 inches between the top and bottom.
-
4
Place your ruler horizontally 1 inch above the center point and put dots at the 3-inch from center marks. Put the ruler aside and draw a freehand 6-inch line that connects the dots on either side of the center. The line may be slightly curved. Bones are not rigidly shaped, so it's better if it is not perfectly straight.

5
Place your ruler horizontally 1 inch below the center point and put dots at the 3-inch from center marks. Put the ruler aside and draw a freehand 6-inch line that connects the dots on either side of the center. The line may be slightly curved. You should now have two somewhat-parallel lines that are 2 inches apart from each other going across your paper.
-
6
Turn your paper so that corners A and B are at the top and C and D are nearest to you.
-
7
Place a dot 2 inches above the ends of the parallel lines. Sketch a 3-inch wide and 3-inch long heart shape that drops between the parallel lines. Erase the part of the heart that drops between the parallel lines.

8
Turn your paper so that corners C and D are at the top and A and B are nearest to you.
-
9
Place a dot 2 inches above the ends of the parallel lines. Sketch another 3-inch wide and 3-inch long heart shape that drops between the parallel lines. Erase the part of the heart that drops between the parallel lines. Extend one of the curves of the heart inside of the bone to give a three-dimensional effect.

10
Add some shading along one side of the bone to make it appear round. Add your dog's name to the bone to personalize it.
