How to Perform a Chair Massage
Massage chairs allow the individual being massaged to sit comfortably while granting a masseuse access to any area the customer needs massaging. As massage chairs are commonly set up in a public setting, such as in a mall, with the aim of attracting short term clients, as opposed to hour long sessions that are scheduled in advance, it is necessary to complete the massage on clothed individuals. While the clothing worn provides a unique challenge, a chair massage can be performed like a table massage, with some minor considerations.
Instructions

1
Assist the customer in sitting down in the chair, if needed, and ensure her head is comfortably resting in the head rest and arms are draped across the arm rests.
-
2
Ask the customer if he has any specific areas he wants you to focus on.
-
-
3
Request permission before massaging the scalp, to ensure you do not mess up the customer's hair against her will.
-
4
Watch the clothing of the individual as you massage him, to ensure you are not causing it to ride up, which can be embarrassing in public.
-
5
Move slowly when applying deep pressure massage, as the extra friction of clothing can cause irritation, if you move too fast.
-
6
Use vibration or staccato techniques to minimize the effect of the clothing.
-
7
Instruct the individual to rest for a minute after the massage.
-
8
Assist the individual out of the chair, if needed.
