How to Make Multiple Quilt Triangles

How to Make Multiple Quilt Triangles thumbnail
A rotary cutter can cut multiple quilt triangles.

Patchwork quilting at its most basic involves squares of different fabrics sewn together to create an attractive pattern. Quilters also use triangles and other shapes of fabric when piecing together patterns. Repetition will unify the overall design with multiple pieces of different fabrics used throughout the quilt. A rotary cutter, transparent ruler and self-healing cutting mat, found at fabric and quilt-supply stores, will help you make accurate multiple triangles of any size in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Press all cotton quilt fabrics smooth with the iron to remove wrinkles and folds.

    • 2

Stack eight different fabrics on top of each other, lining up the edges.

    • 3

Place the fabric on the cutting mat, lining up the top left corner of the stacked fabrics with the top left measuring markings on the mat.

    • 4

Position the transparent ruler along the mat's cutting marks to determine the first cut of one triangle edge.

    • 5

Press the rotary cutter firmly along the ruler edge to cut the fabric. Reposition the ruler to determine and cut the remaining edges of the triangle.
