How to Get the Creases Out of a Thomas Playmat

Playmats allow children to play with cars, airplanes and trains on a smooth surface.

A fictional steam locomotive, Thomas is the most popular character from The Railway Series books written by Rev. W. Awdry. Starring on children's television shows and movies, Thomas quickly become a common sight in the toy section of department stores. Many products are available that feature Thomas the tank engine as well as his friends. A Thomas playmat features various images of Thomas, his friends or train tracks. These mats allow children to play with their Thomas trains on a safe surface. With the proper care, the playmat will last for years to come. Unfortunately, folded the playmat will leave unsightly creases in the mat that can interfere with a child's playtime.

Things You'll Need

• Heavy books
• Cloth
• Hairdryer

Instructions

1. Place the Thomas playmat on a flat surface.

2. Lay several heavy books directly on the platmat and let sit for several hours or -- preferably -- overnight. Continue with the remaining steps if the creases remain.

3. Dampen a cloth with warm water and apply the warm water directly to the creases. Flatten the pliable creases with your hands for several seconds until the mat is flat. Continue with the remaining steps if the creases remain.

4. Set a hairdryer on a low heat. Hold the hairdryer 4 to 5 in. above the Thomas playmat and apply heat for several seconds. Flatten the creases with your hand while applying heat. If needed, place several heavy books on top of the warm creases and let sit for several hours.
