Locate the studs in your wall with a stud finder and mark their locations. You must install the screws into the studs, or the mounts will not be able to support the weight of the metal.

Check around your chosen installation area to ensure that there are no wires or outlets nearby. When drilling, you must take care not to interrupt any wiring that provides electricity to your home.

Hold up one of the mounts on your wall. The mount will feature small holes designed for screws to go in. Make sure these holes line up with one of your wall studs, then mark their location on the wall with a pencil.

Drill pilot holes into the wall at the pencil marks you made. The size of the screws and drill bits you use will vary depending on the mount. The drill bit will need to be the same diameter as the screws. The pilot hole should be as deep as the screws as well.

Insert plastic screw anchors into the pilot holes and tap them into place with a hammer. The anchors will help to distribute the weight of the sword, instead of putting all of the pressure on the screw and the wall just beneath it. The anchors should fit snugly into the holes.

Drill or use a screwdriver to install the screws into the anchors. The screw heads should be about ¼ to ½ inch out from the wall to support the sword.

Set the second mount in another wall stud using the same procedure. The distance between the anchors will vary depending on the width or length of your sword, and which direction you want to hang the blade (horizontally or vertically). If necessary, hold the sword up against the wall to see where the second mount should go. Once both mounts are installed, set the sword on top of them.
