A character letter can help put trust in a person.

A business character letter can be used for many different purposes. If someone is applying for a job in certain fields, such as a childcare field or in social work, they might be required to submit a business character letter along with an application. This letter can also be used to help promote business services to clients. If you have been asked to write a business character letter, take your duties seriously and write a good one.

Instructions

    • 1

Type your name at the top of the business character letter.

    • 2

Type your physical address below your name. Include your phone number and email.

    • 3

Add the date to the letter below your contact information.

    • 4

Use a generic greeting, such as "To Whom It May Concern," unless you know the business character letter is going to a specific person, like a potential employer.

    • 5

State that you are writing a business character reference for the person and how you know the person. Also, add how long you have known each other. For example, you may have been the person's supervisor or client for the last five years.

    • 6

Compliment the person's work ethic and talk about their integrity, diligence or other prominent business character traits.

    • 7

Include something concrete to demonstrate what you have written, such as a short anecdote about the person you're writing the letter for.

    • 8

State that you can be contacted if more information is needed.

    • 9

Add a closing, like sincerely, and type your name and title. Note that you will need to sign your name on the letter.
