How to Make a Frog Cage
Frogs make great pets given a proper environment. The most common and easily adapted species of frogs are the Green Tree frogs. These frogs should not be picked up or handled too frequently, since this can irritate or affect their skin. Creating housing for your new frog must be done with care and dedication, due to the amount of time they will be spending inside their cage. Frogs are good apartment pets and making their cage can be an enjoyable project.

- Green Tree frog
- 20 gallon water-tight aquarium
- Escape proof lid
- Small rock bowl
- Fake plants
- Dechlorinated water
- Small tree branches
- Undertank heater
- Sponge
- Substrate
- Large pot
- Water

Use the water and substrate to fill up the aquarium. Make sure the ratio is half substrate, half water. The dechlorinated water will allow your frog to clean its skin properly, avoiding unwanted infections. The water should be cleaned regularly. This can be done every two days by removing 1 cup of water and adding fresh water to the tank. Also, wipe the tank walls with a clean paper towel at least twice a week.

Gather a couple of tree branches. Clean them thoroughly and boil for 20 minutes. This will sterilize the branches and prevent bacteria from coming into your frog´s new habitat.

Place the branches in your frog´s aquarium. Frogs love to climb, so it will help keep your new pet exercised and happy.

Add some fake plants to your frog´s aquarium. This will make him feel right at home.

Install an undertank heater to keep the temperature constant. Check the temperature regularly, keeping it between 72 and 85 degrees.

Tips & Warnings
Use a rock pool bowl in your frog´s aquarium. This will make the cleaning much easier.
Clean your frog´s aquarium at least once a week with hot water and a sponge.
You may replace fake plants for real plants.
Never use soap when cleaning the aquarium. This can severely harm the frog´s health.
Never introduce unsterilized branches into the aquarium. They can bring bacteria and bugs that can ultimately kill your frog.
