How to Disable Opportunistic Locking in Windows Server 2000

Opportunistic locking permits you to lock files on your computer to forbid other users from accessing it. You can also lock cache data files. Locking a particular file decreases the file access time for that file as less number of user have access to it. On the other hand, it may affect the server's speed as it has to keep track of the lock and deny access to users. Microsoft Windows Server 2000 lets you disable opportunistic locking on the server.
