How to Make Paws on Cupcakes

Save

If you are making cupcakes for someone who likes animals, consider choosing these easy paw print cupcakes. Not only are cupcakes decorated with paw prints perfect for an animal lover, they also would work well for someone who is a fan of a team with a dog, cat or bear mascot. If you are replicating a paw print used for a team or a school's mascot, be sure to look at the print so that you place the correct number of toes on the cupcake. Some paw prints use three toes while others use up to five.

Things You'll Need

  • Frosting
  • Mint patties or
  • Small round cookies
  • Round chocolate candies

Candies

  • Allow your cupcakes to cool completely before you begin decorating them.

  • Frost your cupcake in the color you desire. Choose a color that complements your party decorations, or that coordinates with the team colors if you are creating mascot cupcakes.

  • Place a mint patty or a small, round cookie on the center of a cupcake, but toward the bottom.

  • Add round chocolate candies above the mint patty or round cookie to create the toes on the paw print. Use anywhere from three to five candies for the toes.

  • Continue creating paw prints on the cupcakes until each of them is decorated.

Frosting

  • Frost each of your cupcakes in a color of your choice.

  • Fill a pastry bag with frosting in a contrasting color.

  • Pipe a circle onto the cupcakes, at the bottom center.

  • Lift the pastry bag away from the cupcake, then pipe smaller circles above the large circle to create the paw print's toes.
