How to Dye a Rabbit's Foot
It has been believed that a rabbit's foot was lucky if it came from the left leg of a rabbit that was shot in a cemetery by someone with crossed eyes on a full moon or a new moon, depending on who was telling it. Today, simply rubbing a rabbit's foot can be done for luck. If you have one of your own, it can be customized to your favorite color with careful dyeing.
Things You'll Need
- 1 1/4 Tbsp. fabric dye
- 1 cup boiling water
- Disposable cups
- Metal spoon
- Metal tongs
- Newspaper
Instructions

1
Mix the fabric dye and the boiling water in a disposable cup.
-
2
Use the tongs to drop the rabbit's foot in the colored water.

3
Let the rabbit's foot soak for an hour.

4
Check the color of the rabbit's foot. Keep in mind things look darker when they are wet. If you like the color, pull out the foot. If you want a darker color, soak it longer, checking the color every 15 minutes until it reaches the color you want.

Let the rabbit's foot dry on some newspaper stacked thick enough that the dripping colored water won't soak through.
