How to Add a Target to a Hyperlink in PowerPoint

In a traditional PowerPoint presentation, slideshow viewers or presenters plot a course from the first slide to the end, pressing the keyboard buttons or clicking buttons within the slides themselves. PowerPoint does not require this kind of linear progression. By using hyperlinks within a PowerPoint presentation, you can have your viewers jumping from slide to slide or even out of the slideshow entirely onto the Internet, by adding hyperlink targets.

Instructions

    • 1

Open PowerPoint. Click the "File" tab. Click "Open." Navigate to the presentation with the hyperlink to add a target to and double-click the file name.

    • 2

Press the "PgDn" (Page Down) key on the keyboard to scroll to the first slide with the target to add.

    • 3

Right-click the hyperlink, symbolized by blue text with an underline. Select "Edit Hyperlink."

    • 4

Type the hyperlink target into the "Address" box at the bottom of the "Insert Hyperlink" window. Click the "OK" button to close the window and return to the slide.

    • 5

Hover the cursor over the hyperlink to check a small pop-up window showing the target is in place.
