How to Make a Sugar Cube Corsage
Make a keepsake corsage that will last for years using silk or dried flowers and sugar cubes. Sugar cube corsages were popular decades ago in celebration of a young lady's 'Sweet 16' birthday. Design variations range from dangling 16 sugar cubes from a single flower to clustering 16 sugar cubes in a corsage arrangement. Wrap the sugar cubes with ribbon to resemble packages, to add a distinctive element to the corsage.

1
Cut the stems on three silk flowers to measure 3 inches long. Cut two stems of silk greenery to measure 3 inches long.
-
2
Gather the flowers together in a cluster. Place the two greenery stems behind the flowers.
-
-
3
Wrap floral tap around the five stems to create the corsage. Cover the stems with the tape.
-
4
Cut 10 4-inch long strands of 1/8-inch wide ribbon. The ribbon should coordinate with the flowers in the corsage.
-
5
Tie one strip of ribbon around each sugar cube. Tie another strip of ribbon around the opposite side of each sugar cube to make the cube look like a package. Trim the four ribbon ends to the fall just past the edge of the sugar cube.
-
6
Cut three 8-inch long strands of 1/8-inch wide ribbon. Cut two 6-inch long strands of 1/8-inch wide ribbon. Cut five decorative headpins with wire cutters to measure 1/2-inch long.
-
7
Insert one end of one ribbon strand beneath the ribbon knots at the top of one sugar cube. Insert one 1/2-inch long headpin through the ribbon knots, through the end of the ribbon strand and through the sugar cube. The decorative head of the pin acts as the center of the bow on the sugar cube. Repeat this process to attach the remaining four lengths of 1/8-inch wide ribbon to the remaining sugar cubes.
-
8
Tape the opposite ends of the ribbon strands attached to the sugar cubes to the taped stems of the corsage. Arrange the ribbons so that the three 8-inch long strands are separated by the two 6-inch long strands.
-
9
Cut a 10-inch strip of 5/8-inch wide ribbon. Tape one end of the ribbon to the bottom of the taped stems. Wrap the ribbon around the taped stems and the top of the five ribbon strands. End the ribbon wrap on the backside of the corsage. Tape the ribbon to itself with double-sided tape.
