How to Install a Replacement DSL Modem
DSL modems enable high speed Internet connections. If you recently experienced an issue with your DSL modem, you probably want to install a replacement DSL modem. The steps for installing a DSL modem might vary slightly based on the manufacturer; however, the process remains relatively consistent regardless of the modem.

Power down your computer. Plug your DSL modem's power cord into the back of the modem. Connect the other end to a power outlet.

Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the modem. Plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port of your computer.

Plug the modem cable into your phone jack on the wall. Power up the modem using the power switch if you have one.

Turn on your computer and install any driver software that came with the modem.
