How to Turn Captions Off on Comcast

It is not always possible to turn off the "Closed Captions" option through a Comcast cable box. If you are using a standard-definition Comcast cable box or digital adapter, for example, the closed captions must be disabled through the TV. If you are using a high-definition Comcast cable box but the box is hooked up to an SDTV, you may enable or disable the closed captions through the TV or cable box. If you are using a high-definition Comcast cable box on an HDTV, closed captions can be enable and disabled only through the Comcast cable box.

Use the arrow buttons on the TV's remote control, or the volume or channel buttons on the TV, to navigate through the menu and find the "Closed Captions" menu option. Often, the "Closed Captions" option is located within another menu such as the "Setup" menu. Refer to the TV's owner's manual if you have difficulty locating the "Closed Captions" menu on your TV.
