How to Make Your Own Beach Wedding
A beach is one of the most romantic places to hold a wedding. The gorgeous colors of the sun, the sound of the crashing waves, and the color of the water makes a romantic background for a wedding. This type of wedding is versatile enough for a large group or just for those closest to you and your partner. 1
Check out the available locations. Look into permit fees, clean-up laws and other rules for private beaches. Laws may vary by county and cities and with each beach. Beaches that are good choices have recreational buildings nearby where food can be prepared, bathroom facilities and electricity that can be run to the ceremony site.
-
2
Complete the permit requirements. Some public beach park commissions will require you to fill out forms to disclose information related to the event. For example, you may need to notify them of the equipment that you will be using on that day. Or they may request that you disclose the type of food and beverages you will be bringing to the beach.

3
Send your wedding save the date cards early (at least six months to a year) if possible if it's a destination wedding. This gives out-of-town guests time to acquire money to fund the trip as well as book hotel and flight arrangements.
-
4
Visit the beach during the time of day that you want to schedule your wedding. Note the lighting effects of the sunrise or sunset. Avoid wedding in the afternoon when the sun is the hottest.
-
5
Have a backup plan in place. In case of slightly bad weather, plan for a rain delay. Make sure there is an indoor venue available where your guests can take shelter if the weather gets nasty. A party tent can also help keep rain from ruining the day.
-
6
Think of the needs of your guests. Place welcome baskets at the entrance of the ceremony site. Place items such as sunglasses, bug spray, suntan lotion and beach blankets in the baskets. Have iced drinks, portable fans and small decorative fans available to make guests more comfortable.
-
7
Place signs at the entrance of the ceremony area to direct guests. Send maps of the beach so they know where boardwalks, grassy areas, sand dunes and restrooms are located.
-
8
Supply a wedding theme. Possible themes include tropical flowers or fruits, sea shells, messages in a bottle, or palm fronds. Use the theme that you have chosen at the ceremony site and at the reception area to create a sense of unity.
