How to Tie Eskimo Knots
The Eskimo bowline knot is a variation of the standard bowline knot used to form a loop at the end of a rope. Eskimo bowline knots are relatively easy to tie, and superior to the standard bowline in situations where a wide loop is necessary and a regular bowline would shake loose.

1
Cross the free end of the rope loosely over the rope to make an unsecured loop. Bring the free end under the loop. You should now have a pretzel shape.
-
2
Bring the free end of the rope through the bottom wedge-shaped portion of the pretzel, then under itself and over the curve that forms the left side of the pretzel. There should be a loop hanging from one side of the pretzel. Feed additional rope toward the loop to make it as big as necessary.

Pull on the outer side of the loop and the opposite end of the rope simultaneously to tighten the knot. Rearrange the shape of the knot so the free end hangs down into the loop rather than up in the opposite direction of the loop. Pull on both sides again to tighten the knot. You now have an Eskimo knot.
