How to Bake a King Lobster Tail
When it comes to cooking a king lobster tail, you may be clueless on how to complete this task. However, there are many ways to cook a king lobster tail. Many people do not realize that vital steps to cooking a tail include knowing how to prep it and not overcooking it. When you do not correctly prep the tail, you will have a harder time removing the tender meat. Overcooking the meat will cause it to become gummy. Things You'll Need
- Kitchen shears
- Bamboo steamer
- Melted clarified butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
- Garlic Powder
- Fresh lemon juice
- Aluminum foil

Make sure that your lobster tail is defrosted fully. Take your kitchen shears and place in the middle of the top shell. Be sure to only cut the shell and not the meat. Cut down to the base of the tail.

Grab each side of the shell and gently pull the shell away from the meat. This will allow the meat to expand when it is cooked. Don't pull the meat fully off the shell.

Brush your the lobster meat with some clarified butter. If you wish, you can add a bit of salt, pepper, garlic powder and some lemon juice.

Place your lobster in a prepared bamboo steamer. If you do not have a bamboo steamer available to you have a shallow pan of boiling water and place a steaming rack over it. Place the lobster onto the rack and cover the pot with a lid. Cooking time depends on the size of the lobster tail. For a king lobster tail, the size is usually 12 to 14 ounces, which means 25 to 30 minutes to steaming. Once cooked, serve immediately.

Pre-heat the over to 450 F and begin to prep your lobster tail.

Make sure that your lobster tail is defrosted. Flip your lobster tail over so the legs are exposed. Hold the lobster tail in your hand. With your kitchen shears cut down one side of the lobster tail until you reach the base of the tail. Repeat on the other side. Cut the shell across at the base of the tail to remove it. Remove the membrane from the meat by cutting it away.

Baste the tail in your choice of marinade, whether it be just clarified butter or a mix of melted butter with paprika, salt, pepper and lemon juice.

Place the lobster tail on a sheet of foil and wrap it up until it is fully sealed. Place the tail on the rack in the over and cook. It takes 30 minutes to cook a 12 oz. lobster tail and 35 for 14 oz. tail. However since cooking time may vary due to your oven, keep an eye on your lobster tail so it does not burn.
