How to Convert Uppercase to Lowercase in OpenOffice

Lowercase and sentence-case words are easier to read than uppercase ones. Use the latter sparingly in your documents. If you type in uppercase and later change your mind, you do not have to start over from the beginning. Word processing applications such as the free OpenOffice Writer enable you to quickly switch from one case to another.

  • Click and drag the mouse pointer over the uppercase text to select it.

  • Click Format on the OpenOffice Writer menu bar.

  • Select Change Case.

  • Select "lowercase." This converts the uppercase text to lowercase. If you prefer to capitalize the first letter of the text, select "Sentence case" instead.
