How to Color a Genie Light in Photoshop CS3
Dreaming of a genie to grant wishes may be some peoples' plans for striking it rich, getting famous or making their dreams come true. While Adobe Photoshop CS3 can't make a genie actually appear, it does provide a platform to decorate the genie's home -- a genie lamp, bottle or light. Color a genie lamp in Photoshop with the hopes of capturing your own wish-granting genie and start making plans for those wishes.

1
Open Adobe Photoshop CS3, pull down the "File" menu and click "Open." Browse to the picture of the genie light and double-click the file name. When the lamp picture opens, pull down the "View" menu and click "Fit on Screen" to see the entire image.
-
2
Click the "Lasso" tool on the "Tools" pane. Draw an outline around the genie light. Dotted lines start "marching" around the outline.

3
Pull down the "Image" menu at the top of the work area. Click the "Adjustments" option and select "Hue/Saturation." Slide the "Hue" bar to the left or right to recolor the genie light. Slide the "Saturation" bar to the right to brighten the light and make it look neon. Click the "OK" button when satisfied.
-
4
Right-click inside the blinking lines surrounding the lamp and select "Layer via Copy." Nothing happens on the picture, but a new Layer one appears on the "Layers" palette on the bottom-right side of the screen.
-
5
Double-click Layer 1 to open the "Layer Style" window. Check the "Inner Glow" and "Outer Glow" boxes to make the light look as if it is lit like a light from both within and the outside. Click the "OK" button.
-
6
Click the lined icon on the "Layers" palette. Click "Merge Visible." Click the "File" menu, choose "Save As," type a new name for the image and click the "Save" button.
