Draw your own 50s record with these simple steps.

The 1950s were a popular era for music recorded onto records. Recreate your own vintage 1950s record to adorn a picture, poser or flier with these simple drawing steps. When you draw your own record, you can create original stylized labels in the center of the record. After drawing the record, you can choose to add color and texture to the picture with colored pencils or water colors.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a small dot in the center of a piece of paper. Use a ruler to measure and draw tick marks 2 and 6 inches away from the centered dot.

    • 2

Load a drawing pencil into a protractor. Place the point of the protractor into the dot at the center of the paper.

    • 3

Draw the outside edge of the record. Adjust the protractor so that the pencil reaches the 6-inch tick mark. Holding the point of the protractor steady in the center of the paper, draw a circle with a 6-inch radius using the protractor. Press down on the pencil to create a dark, bold line.

    • 4

Draw the inside of the record. Adjust the protractor so that the pencil reaches the 2-inch tick mark. Draw a circle with a 2-inch radius, pressing down on the pencil to create a bold line.

    • 5

Add ridged texture to the record. Adjust the protractor and draw circles at 1/4 inch increments between the 2 -and 6-inch circles. Apply only a slight amount of pressure to the pencil to create a light line.

    • 6

Add details such as a label art or a 50s band name to the interior portion ---- the inside circle ---- of the record.
