How Do I Change the Blades on My Bush Hog SQ720 Rotary Mower?

The Bush Hog SQ720 is a pull behind brush mower equipped with two rotary blades to help evenly cut thick brush and tall grass. It is usually used on farms but has its place in large yards. After disconnecting the Bush Hog from your tractor, you are ready to remove the two blades from the mower deck.

Things You'll Need

• Block of wood
• Socket set

Instructions

1. Position the mower deck in an upright position against a wall or place it upside down so you can easily reach the blades. If necessary, use the assistance of a second person to help you maneuver the Bush Hog.

2. Wedge a wooden block between the edge of the first mower blade and the side of the mower deck. This immobilizes the blade and keeps it from spinning.

3. Loosen the nut in the center of the blade with a socket and ratchet.

4. Pull the old blade off of the shaft and replace it with a new blade.

5. Thread the nut in place and tighten it with the socket and ratchet.

6. Repeat the process with the second blade.
