1
Raid the back of your closet, a friend's closet or a local thrift shop to find a prom dress straight from the 1980s. For a dramatic effect, choose a look that is brightly colored and comes complete with plenty of sequins, lace and puffy sleeves.

2
Locate a pair of high heels pumps that are the same color as your dress. It was a big trend in the 1980s to match the shoe color with the color of the prom dress. If you cannot find a match, purchase a pair of shoes that can be died and bring them to a dress shop or shoe store to have them colored.

Add a few finishing touches to let everyone know that you are the prom queen. Wear a sash and carry around a scepter. Wave at your loyal subjects as you walk around using catch phrases from the day, such as "like totally bogus" or " as if".
