How to Test to See if He Likes Me

Find out if the guy you're seeing is into you.

Whether you have a crush on a long-term friend, have started dating someone recently or are still trying to feel out how a guy you've been seeing for really feels about you, pay attention to the small, subtle cues he's giving off. Unfortunately, many people aren't direct and confident enough to come straight out and say, "I like you." Since it's human nature to be a little more guarded and private, you'll have to do some digging to find out the truth.

Instructions

Watch his body language. Signs that say that a guy isn't into you include turning his back on you, leaning away from you and not making eye contact. The opposite --- facing you, getting close to you and making eye contact --- show that he is interested in you.

Take note of how often he's around. While it may just be coincidental if you share the same group of friends, guys who keep showing up where you hang out at school, at your place of work or when friends are getting together tend to do so for a reason - and that reason could very well be to see you! Pay attention to the things he does for you. Even if he's just a buddy right now, guys who go out of their way for you, especially with more difficult tasks, are probably into you. If he's carrying heavy books for you or offering to set up your new Internet line at home, this could be more than friendly.

Stop obsessing. While we all want the guy we have our heart set on to feel the same way back, the real question is: How do you truly feel about him? Focusing on your own thoughts and feelings will put everything in perspective.

Tips & Warnings

  • Eye contact can be tricky - just because a guy isn't meeting your gaze, it doesn't necessarily mean he's not into you. He could, instead, be nervous or trying to play it cool. Don't base all of your opinions on one action, particularly eye contact.

  • Don't mistake physical acts for true feelings. Even sweet kisses don't necessarily mean that a guy is into you ---- he simply may be attracted to you and have fun kissing you. Dig a little deeper to find out how he truly feels.
