How to Connect a Samsung R451C Cell Phone to a Laptop

The Samsung SCH-R451C is a cellular telephone compatible with many different cellular telephone networks. The phone includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 player and 1.3-megapixel camera. To load music onto the phone, use either the microSD card or connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable. Once connected you must enable the phone as a USB mass storage device, which allows you to access the phone through "My Computer" or "Computer," depending on your version of Windows, to drag and drop files to and from the phone.

  • Press the "Menu" button and then select "Settings" followed by "Phone Settings."

  • Select "PC Connection" and then change the setting to "USB Mass Storage Device" to allow files to be transferred to and from the phone using a USB cable.

  • Plug the USB cable included with the SCH-R451C into the slot on the bottom of the phone and then plug the other end into the USB port on the laptop.

  • Open the "Start" menu on the laptop and then click "Computer" or "My Computer," depending on your version of Windows.

  • Double-click the SCH-R451C icon to view the files contained on the phone. Files can be dragged and dropped to and from the phone using this method.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the phone is not set to "USB Mass Storage Device," the phone will still charge when connected to the laptop's USB port, but will not appear in the "Computer" or "My Computer" screen.
