How to Zoom Out on the GIMP

The zoom tool for the GIMP image program is located on the right-side toolbox. By default, the zoom tool is set to zoom in when you use the tool; however, you can set the tool to zoom out instead. Using the "Zoom Out" feature is handy if you've zoomed into an image too much, or if the image is inherently large and you want to display it in its entirety.

Instructions

    • 1

Open GIMP and open the picture you want to use.

    • 2

Click on the magnifying glass in the toolbox to select the zoom tool.

    • 3

Click on the tool options tab on the bottom section of the toolbox.

    • 4

Click "Zoom Out" to select the zoom out feature.

    • 5

Click your left mouse button on the image to zoom out. If you decide you want to zoom in, open the tool options tab and select "Zoom In," and then click on the image to zoom back in.
