Save

The VIZIO company makes many different models of high definition televisions. These HDTVs can be connected to a cable box, DVD player, Blu-ray player or video game console to provide hours of entertainment in high definition. Each of the VIZIO HDTVs also comes with a remote that you can use to control the television, and you also can use it and the television's built-in menu to customize your settings so the HDTV operates exactly how you like.

  • Turn on the television by pressing the "Power" button on the remote control. Press the "Menu" button to access the menu. In the center of the remote are four directional buttons with an "OK" button in the center that you can use to navigate the menus and make selections.

  • Navigate to the left until the icon shaped like the "Television" is highlighted and press "OK" to enter the "Picture" menu. Navigate up and down in this menu to select settings such as "Brightness," "Contrast" and "Color." Press the left and right arrows to increase or decrease the values for each setting. Press "OK" when finished to return to the main menu.

  • Press the right arrow button while on the main menu until the "Audio" icon, shaped like a speaker, is highlighted and press "OK." Below you will see the audio options that you can customize, including fields such as "Volume," "Bass" and "Treble" as well as options for enabling surround sound and external speakers. Use the arrows to adjust the values and press "OK" when finished.

  • Use the arrow buttons to move to the "TV" menu option which features an icon shaped like a television antenna. Use the arrow keys once again to switch the "Tuner Mode" or do a "Ch" search while in this menu. Note that if you receive cable or satellite service through a cable box, you will not need to change these settings. Press "OK" when finished.

  • Navigate to the "Setup" menu option, which is shaped like a hand holding a remote, and press "OK" to access more options. Below you will see options for language, closed captioning and screen position. Use the arrow keys as above to navigate through the options and change the values. Press "OK" to save your changes and press "Menu" to exit the menu and resume using your television.
