How to Change the Resolution in "League of Legends"

"League of Legends" is an online multiplayer real-time strategy game developed by Riot Games. As with most games, "League of Legends" allows you to increase or decrease the game's resolution settings. Increasing the resolution increases the game's clarity and sharpness, but also takes more of a toll on your graphics card. You may need to decrease the resolution if the game is running slow, or you may want to increase the resolution if your computer can run the game at a higher setting. Changing the resolution is done through a file located in one of the game's sub-folders.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click the "League of Legends" shortcut and click "Properties." Click "Open File Location" and the "League of Legends" folder will appear.

    • 2

Double-click the "RADS" folder, then double-click the "Solutions" folder. Double-click the only folder in "Solutions," named "lol_game_client," followed by "Releases." There will be one folder with a numeric name, which varies depending on your game version. Double-click that folder and the "Deploy" folder will appear.

    • 3

Double-click the "Deploy" folder, then double-click the "DATA" and "CFG" folders. Right-click the "Game" file and click "Open with." Select "Notepad" from the list of programs.

    • 4

Scroll down to "Width" and "Height." Erase the numbers beside both and enter the new width and height numbers to serve as the new resolution. The optimal resolution is typically whatever your computer is set at. You can find the current resolution your computer is set at by right-clicking the Windows desktop and clicking "Screen resolution." Your computer's current resolution is found in the "Resolution" box and is listed as width x height. For example, if the resolution is "1366 x768," the width is 1366 and the height is 768.

Look through the text for "UserSetResolution." If you find that line, erase the "0" beside it and replace it with a "1." If you cannot find that line, scroll to the bottom of the text and type in "UserSetResolution=1" below the last item.

    • 6

Click "File" and "Save." "League of Legends" will now start with the chosen resolution.
