Ask your students to create online Jeopardy games for homework.

Playing Jeopardy is an excellent way to review a curriculum with your students. You can create an online game that is suitable for students young and old since you are the one deciding what the questions will be. Several online templates allow you to create a Jeopardy game in a matter of minutes. Your students will enjoy playing Jeopardy in a friendly competitive environment while re-examining or learning information relevant to the subject you teach.

Instructions

    • 1

Look for an online Jeopardy game template that you are comfortable using. The Super Teacher Tools and Jeopardy Labs websites offer such templates.

    • 2

Create a new Jeopardy game using the online program. On the Super Teacher Tools site, click on "Make a New Game." On the Jeopardy Labs site, click on "Start Building" and enter a password so you can access your game anytime you want.

    • 3

Give your Jeopardy game a name. If you are reviewing a particular science unit, for example, you may want to call the game "Weather Patterns" or "Ecology." On the Super Teacher Tools website, scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your title. Type in your email address and password as well if you would like to edit your game more easily in the future. On the Jeopardy Labs website, enter your title at the top of the page.

    • 4

Type in five category names in the appropriate fields. For example, if you are creating a Jeopardy game related to fractions, your category names might be "Equivalent Fractions," "Comparing Fractions," "Diagrams," "Reducing Fractions" and "Addition and Subtraction."

    • 5

Type in your questions under the relevant categories. In keeping with Jeopardy style, phrase the "question" as an answer and phrase the "answer" as a question. For example, a question under the category "Addition and Subtraction" might be, "This is the sum of 500 and 328." The correct answer would be, "What is 828?" The easiest questions should fall under the $100 values and the hardest under the $500 values. On the Super Teacher Tools site, enter your questions and answers in the provided fields. You can also change the monetary values if you wish. In Jeopardy Labs, click on the appropriate box and a field will pop up for you to enter your questions and answers.

    • 6

Click on "Create a game file" on the Super Teacher Tools site or "Save" on the Jeopardy Labs site once you are finished creating your questions and answers. Both buttons are at the bottom of the page.

    • 7

Save the link of the game you have just created so you can access the game anytime you wish.
