How to Shut Off Mobile IM for Yahoo! Messenger

Although mobile instant messaging and forwarding tools can be useful to keep in touch with your Yahoo! Messenger contacts, the data fees on your mobile device can quickly add up. To disable the mobile IM feature for Yahoo! Instant Messenger, access the settings of your Yahoo! Instant Messenger account through Yahoo! Messenger 8 or later.

Instructions

1. Launch Yahoo! Messenger and log in to your account using your Yahoo! ID and password.

2. Click "Messenger," then "Preferences." Click the "General" section.

3. Click to de-select the "Always Sign In To My Mobile Device When I Exit" check box.
